UiPath Desktop Triggers Activities Pack Introduction

The UiPath Desktop Triggers Activities pack provides an automated way for responding to specific performance events occurring on your local machine, eliminating the manual monitoring and response requirements.

Performance Trigger Activity

Use the Performance Trigger activity to oversee resource consumption, addressing performance issues promptly. This includes the ability to prompt end users to close resource-intensive applications and generate reports to proactively enhance machine performance.

Key Resource Types for Monitoring

The Performance Trigger activity is capable of monitoring four key resource types:

  1. CPU
  2. Memory
  3. Disk
  4. Network

Idle Trigger Activity

Employ the Idle Trigger activity to execute designated activities when your workstation enters idle mode. Configure a minimum idle duration of five seconds, enabling the workflow to perform various operations during periods of inactivity.

Limitations of the Activities Pack

  • The activities in the pack work only for automations built on Windows OS, that is why you must select Windows as the Compatibility for every new project in Studio.
  • You cannot monitor disk consumption for privileged processes, despite selecting the Include privileged processes checkbox.

Features of the Desktop Triggers Activities

Key features of the Desktop Triggers activities include:

  1. **Comprehensive Resource Monitoring:
**Monitors resource consumption at both the operating system level and for individual processes.
  2. **Threshold and Duration Configuration:
**Enables users to set specific thresholds and durations for triggers to activate.
For instance, if the CPU usage threshold is set at 40% with a duration of 3 seconds, the trigger responds when CPU usage exceeds 40% for more than 3 seconds.
  3. **Flexibility in Process Monitoring:
**Offers the capability to monitor child processes or processes with privileged access, enhancing the adaptability of trigger configurations.
  4. **Detailed Event Information:
**Provides information about performance trigger events in a JSON string format.
This feature ensures insights into triggered events, facilitating analysis and response planning.
