The idea for this library initial started in June 2022. I noticed that in order to scale our test automation efforts, we also need to build tools which can help us produce test cases in a consistent and easy way, independent of the project or the test automation developer working on test automation projects.  

  

1.  Currently our RPA/Test developers spend a lot of time setting up the necessary test case workflows in test automation projects. This does not scale.
2.  A test developer requires up to 4 minutes to prepare a testing workflow with good annotations and structure. 
3.  Saving time in creating test cases can impact many automation teams across the globe. 

  

UiPath workflows are modular .xml objects. We have found a novel way to utilize the .xaml format to create automated test cases. 

  

**Update after HyperHack2022 (** [HyperHack 2022 Hackathon Winners | Community Blog (uipath.com)](https://www.uipath.com/community/rpa-community-blog/hyperhack-2022-hackathon-winners))

*   Added a boolean which when true, will create additional workflow files that can be consumed within the test cases generated.

The Android Automation Activities allows users to automate UI actions like **tapping, swiping, entering/getting text, as well as taking a screenshot** on an Android emulator or physical device using **UiPath Studio** and **Appium**, a test framework for mobile devices. 

  

The **Android Emulator Scope** will handle the connection between the device and Appium, as well launch the app/activity you'd like to run on the device. UI actions can be performed by dragging and dropping the appropriate activity into the scope and entering the selector/coordinates of the target UI element. Through this activity, you will be able to create workflows that interact with **mobile applications and mobile browsers** with relative ease. 

  

Usage of this activity package relies on several 3rd party software. They are as follows:

*   Appium
*   Java Development Kit
*   Android SDK (and Device/Emulator)
*   NodeJS (npm)

The main design considerations in this snippet are:

*   Setup, Execute, Verify and Teardown approach.
*   Automatically reports a test case as ‘Failed’ when it ends with an unexpected error.
*   Handles positive as well as negative test scenarios.

A snippet used to test workflows in Studio Pro with robust exception and negative test case handling capabilities.

The process can be used by employees (citizen developers) to easily rollback to previous versions their personal automations deployed to the Orchestrator. 

  

The steps are intuitive and can be deployed across companies as part of initiatives that support their automation journey.

This process rollbacks any process deployed in a personal folder to a specified version.

This solution is made to be used by UiPath developers to help them write better code and save them a lot of time when change requests occur.

  

There are **four main parts** to this project:

1.  Framework used for automated running of unit tests and logging.
2.  GUI specifically coded for this framework.
3.  Custom activity package that plays essential part in running of Framework and Unit Tests both.
4.  Unit Test Template used to easily make Framework ready unit tests.  
    

My main inspiration was to help myself and other developers save time and effort that manual testing regularily takes, and which can be solved through automation (after all, we are automating processes, so why not a part of the development also?).

**Importance of the Project:**

  

Any testing activity would be incomplete if we do not provide a test report. The test report is an important document which comprises visual/graphical representation of the tests done on the product and the corresponding test results and it is shared among the stakeholders of the project. As the test report holds an important value for the test activities, we felt a strong need for an activity in UiPath that would generate good test report automatically along with the automated test execution. Reporter for UiPath addresses the above-stated need perfectly. 

Reporter for UiPath is the UiPath activity suite with many features packed in it that helps in generating beautiful test reports simultaneously along with the execution of the tests.

  

This package contains 8 activities:

  

\- Create Report

\- Start Suite

\- Start Test

\- Step Status

\- Log Message

\- Start Recording

\- Stop Recording

\- Email Notification

  

**Features of this report :**

  

**Independency**: All the activities are robust and flexible to adjust themselves in any scenario. You can use any activity at any point and anywhere in the workflow.

E.g. without creating a report, you can directly use Start suite/Start Test/Step Status activity, then in such a case the reporter will identify it and setup the report initialization accordingly.

  

**Categorization**: By default, this reporter will categorize your tests by test suite and priority.

In addition to it allows you to define your tags into tests. We can use this feature to divide your test cases module wise in the final report.

  

**Multi** **Reports**: With this feature the reporter will analyze all test cases and generate multiple reports like suite wise, priority wise, tag wise. Each report will contain total count, pass-fail count with passing percentage.

  

**Filters**: Filters can help you to display only categorized test cases. The generated report will have 4 filters: pass/fail, suite, tag and priority filter. We can add multiple filters at a time as well.

  

**Dashboard**: The reporter will record each and every logging movement and design a dashboard. This will give you execution timings, counts of all passed/failed tests, status wise counts of all steps, along with all the sub-reports.

  

**Screenshot**: This is the most useful and important feature. It will allow you to add runtime screenshots into the test step. We can use it as execution proof or suppose your test case gets failed then these screenshots will help you to identify the cause, either it is a code issue or application issue.

  

**Test Recording:** Using Start Recording and Stop Recording activities you can record your test execution. This activity provides the option to save recordings in the existing report folder. If the report is not created and still you want to record the execution, in that case you can provide a location for the recording in Start Recording activity or by default the reporter will create a Recordings folder in current directory and store all recordings.

  

**Compare:** In Step Status activity new mode added i.e**.** Compare**.** In this mode, the reporter will identify whether the test is passed or failed based on the Actual and Expected Values Comparison.

To use this feature just make a step status as Compare.

  

**Email Notification:** Using “Send Email Status” Activity users can get consolidated test execution status on their mail along with the report attached.

Providing a comprehensive test report with ReporterForUiPath.

  

No testing activity is complete without a detailed test report. This document visually represents the tests performed on a product, and their corresponding results, and is shared among project stakeholders. 

  

Given the importance of the test report, there was a need for an automated activity in UiPath that could generate quality reports in tandem with test execution. This need is addressed perfectly by ReporterForUiPath - an activity suite with many features that enable the creation of beautiful test reports simultaneously with test execution.

  

This package contains 5 activities:

**New features of the Reporter v3.0:**

  

A new feature has been introduced in version 3.0 of ReporterForUiPath, which enables parallel report generation. This means that multiple HTML reports can be generated simultaneously during execution.

  

**Existing Features Of the Reporter:** 

  

1.1 **No-Dependency:** The activities in this program are both robust and flexible, allowing them to adapt to any situation. They can be used at any point within the workflow. For example, if a report hasn't been created and a suite is created directly, the reporter will recognize this and initialize the report. Similarly, if nothing has been created beforehand and the step status activity is used, the default report, suite, and test will be generated first, with the step added to the default test afterward. 

  

1.2 **Categorization:** By default, this reporter categorizes tests by test, suite, and priority. Additionally, it allows you to define tags for your tests to further categorize them. 

  

1.3 **Filters:** Filters can be used to display only categorized test cases in the generated report. The report will have four filters: pass/fail, suite, tag, and priority filter. Multiple filters can be added to display specific tests as well. 

  

1.4 **Dashboard:** The reporter records every logging movement and generates a dashboard. This dashboard provides information on execution timings, the count of all passed/failed tests, and status-wise counts of all steps, and contains various sub-reports. 

  

1.5 **Screenshot:** One of the most important and useful features is the ability to add runtime screenshots to test steps. These screenshots can be used as execution proof, or in case of a failed test case, to help identify the cause - whether it is a code issue or an application issue. 

  

1.6 **Log Message:** As like test step, you can add log messages for the test as well.

It consists of a server component built using NodeJS. The detailed instructions on setting up the server is provided in a Readme file inside the package.
