Download with Progress Bar Activity

An activity which allows you to download a file from a given URL while monitoring its progress

Ready to use at attended/unattended automation, in case of the latter, it is recommended to disable the display message option in the property panel.

The File name is only optional (it is recommended to generate a naming convention in Studio to keep track of the files). However, in case the user hasn't provided one, the activity will attempt to retrieve a name from the URL. If is not possible, a random string method of 11 characters will be used.

** Using the same name will result in the file being overwritten 

Input: 

• Message (string containing a message to be displayed in the dialog box such as information about the download, etc.)
• Save Directory (string containing the folder path where the download should be saved)
• URL (string containing the URL for the target download)

Output: Downloaded file at designated directory

Options: 

• Display (Check if you would like to be notified once the download is completed). *Disable for unattended automation.
• FileName (string containing the name of the file to be downloaded). *If not provided, the file name will be fetched from the URL. A random string will be assigned if the latter fails.
• UserName (string containing the User Name whenever required) → Authentication
• Password (string containing the Password whenever required) → Authentication

Exceptions thrown for:

• Save Directory does not exist
• Not valid URL
• Valid but non-responsive URL
• No file contained in the provided link

This activity is specially useful: For downloads of large size files. At automating installer processes. To provide visibility of their progress.
