Within the Word package, multiple activities are available, facilitating the manipulation of .docx files. These activities empower users to integrate images into documents, engage in text reading, appending, or replacement, incorporate bookmarks, and export files to PDF format.

Most of these activities are designed for use within the Word Application Scope activity, requiring the opening of the Word application to process the document. The activities housed in the System category operate independently of the Word Application Scope, executing seamlessly in the background.

Activities within the Word Application Scope

The list below describes the activities found in the UiPath Word Activities pack. These activities open the Word application to process the document and must be added inside a Use Word File activity.

• Word Application Scope / Use Word File - Lets you select a Word document to use in the automation.
• Add Hyperlink to Document - Adds a hyperlink to a document.
• Add Picture - Adds a picture in a specified Word document at a specified position relative to a text or bookmark.
• Append Text - Writes text at the end of a Word document.
• Insert DataTable in Document - Inserts a table generated from a DataTable variable in a Word document at a specified position relative to a text or bookmark.
• Paste Chart/Picture Into Document - Pastes a chart or picture that was previously placed on the clipboard into a Word document at the specified position.
• Read Text - Reads the text from a Word document and stores it in a string variable. The text is copied without formatting.
• Replace Picture - Replaces all the occurrences of a picture in a Word document with another specified picture. The picture to replace is identified by its Alt Text.
• Replace Text in Document - Replaces all occurrences of a text in a Word document with another specified text.
• Save Document As - Saves a Word file added to the project as a different file. You can specify the file name and the Word file type to save as.
• Save Document as PDF - Exports the Word document in PDF format. If a PDF file with the same name already exists in the specified location, the file is replaced when the automation is executed.
• Set Bookmark Content - Adds text at a specified bookmark location in a Word document.
