This activity processes any image format (including PDF), detects an Italian Vehicle Registration Certificate (Carta di Circolazione Italiana) and returns a JSON formatted object with all data (plate numbers, name, vehicle registration number,..) present in the front page. Input image or document must be lower than 6MB.

The response contains:
- Standard (harmonized) information according to the European Council Directive 1999/37/EC ANNEX I.
- Additional information that depends on the European member state (e.g.: supported tyres, vehicle length, etc.).

The AI approach used is not a standard OCR. To ensure the highest accuracy, a 3-step process has been implemented:
- The input image is processed to detect an Italian Vehicle Registration Certificate;
- The image is then scanned to identify all the ROIs (Regions of Interest);
- Each ROI identified is finally processed to extract data.
The AI model has been developed using a rich data set (images of different quality and formats). The model is also frequently updated to improve its performance.
